Contrary to popular opinion, the chairman of Mile II Security Organisation, Igbudu Market, Warri, Comrade Okpako Onoriobe, has faulted the on-going construction of a massive drainage project across Warri-Sapele Road as a solution to the perennial flood problem in the Enerhen Junction area.
Onoriobe, who spoke on the project in an interaction with our correspondent at his office in Igbudu Market, Warri, noted that there was an existing quality canal at the boundary between Warri South and Uvwie local government areas on Warri-Sapele Road, constructed by the defunct Bendel state government.
While alleging that illegal structures were built on the said carnal, the Udu born Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to investigate his claims.
“What is needed as a solution to the problem of flood in the Enerhen Junction area is the construction and regular clearing of gutters in Enerhen Junction and its adjoining streets in the Marine Quarter area,” he added
Onoriobe noted that monies spent on the ongoing drainage project would be more than enough for the construction of quality gutters in Enerhen Junction and its adjoining streets in Mar quartersi.
