Disabilities community in Anambra State have thrown support to All Progressive Grand Alliance candidate, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, ahead of the November 6th gubernatorial election in the State.

The group said the APGA candidate remained the most efficient among other profiled contestants to deliver the state to the next level of economic growth and development.

Addressing newsmen in Awka, Friday, Barr Chuks Ezewuzie from the Directorate of APGA campaign for the disability constituency said the APGA flag bearer is the best prepared candidate to develop Anambra State as governor.

According to him, we are ready for a grand slam development in Anambra State because Soludo has four pillars of economic plan that will yield economic development in the state. We are convinced that he has the competence, connection, capability and the creativity to toe the line of Obiano in transforming the state.

He maintained that the APGA administration under Governor Willie Obiano transformed the lives of people living with disabilities (PLWD), in Anambra state to be at par with their counterparts in the western nations.

He also acknowledged that the state governor signed the 2018 Disability Rights Law and added that it was patterned after the American Disability Act and was in tandem with the United Nation’s convention on the rights of persons with disabilities.

Ezewuzie, who is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Disability Matters, emphasized that gone are the days when provisions for disabilities community were perceived as charity and alms.

“Taking care of persons with disabilities is no longer a charity thing. It is now a human right issue. Back in the days, people think that taking care of people with disabilities is a hole that receives and doesn’t give out”, he said.

Following the 2018 Disabilities law, Ezewuzie further hinted that adherence to the provision now stand as yardstick for measuring the greatness and performance of an administration.

Orient Daily reports that the Directorate comprises four cluster groups including the Deaf, Blind, Sickle Cell and Albinism communities.
