Youths, women benefit from skills acquisition training in Ogbaru

No fewer than fifty indigent women and youths in Ogbaru, Anambra state were, last week, empowered with skills on production of cosmetics, bakery, solar installations, among many others.

The skills acquisition exercise was organized by Hon. Chukwuka Onyema, a lawmaker representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives in partnership with National Centre for Energy  Research and  Development, University of Nigeria Nsukka.

Orient Daily gathered that the skills acquisition programme was the second batch of Skill acquisition organized by the lawmaker to equip the youths and women of the area with entrepreneurial skills to start up businesses of their own.

The training  which took place in Anibueze town hall Ogbaru local government area saw the youths and women counting different skills they have acquired through Hon Onyema. The skills they acquired  included all types of Baking , cosmetics making, Solar installation, repair and maintenance,  Soap making, car Washing soap, liquid soap, Baking, Body spray, among many others.   

Delivering a lecture, Mr Onu  Sunny Evans, the consultant, advised  the participants to use the programme  as an opportunity to grab skills that  will  better their life and always  put food on their  table  without  waiting for white caller jobs.

 He also advised the participants to perfect what they learnt by putting the knowledge they garnered into constant practice. “Ensure you practicalise what you have learnt. If you make yourself available, you will learn the work. Don’t look at the money first but ensure that you perfect in the work which is the most important,” he  said

Beneficiaries of the training expressed gratitude to Hon Onyema for his magnanimity and prayed for God to sustain him to enable the lawmaker carry out more intervention for his people.

A participant, Chidubem Nwankwo, expressed happiness  for participating in the training. He noted that he learnt  how to install and service Solar light  and other electric  appliances  in the house.

Another participant, Mrs Esther Chukwu, also expressed gratitude to the lawmaker  saying” It has been Akukaria (Ochendo), the man who knows that there are widows, there are jobless youths, God will bless him,  I learnt many things in this programs which includes, how to make liquid soap, perfume, soap, shampoo, hand sanitizers and lots more. I have gotten more ideas  to the ones already I know. “

Orient Daily reports that the participants, after the training, were given certificate and other rewards.
