The Acting Dean, Faculty of Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Dr. Isaac Nwankwo has warned the newly admitted students of the faculty to shun cultism, examination misconduct, certificate forgery and truancy throughout their stay in the university to avoid expulsion and/or other punitive measures.

Dr. Nwankwo, who also represented the university vice-chancellor, Prof. Charles Okechukwu Esimone at the event, also implored the students to timely pay their school fees to enable the university maintain existing facilities as well as provide new ones.

Orient Daily reports that the 2021/2022 matriculation exercise which took place in front of faculty of education on Friday October 28, 2022, was initially postponed as a result of industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

While administering the matriculation oath of loyalty, Dr. Nwankwo admonished the freshers to be of good conduct and to be serious with their studies, adding that the faculty of education was known for modesty and integrity.

Also speaking to the fresh undergraduates on behalf of the Faculty Career Development Officers, the CDS chairperson, Dr. Naomi Nkiru Samuel, told her audience to reach out to their departmental career development Officers for information relating to their career choices to avoid making wrong choices.

Dr. Loyce Onyali, the chairman, faculty dress code committee had in a remark, warned the students that indecent dressing of all sorts was prohibited in the faculty and university at large, while remainding them that the ivory tower was for studies and carving a prosperous future. “There is a gain in decent dressing and you must abide by the university dress code because we are to train you in character and learning”, she said, urging the students to be worthy ambassadors of the university.
