The Chairman of People Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele has described both the Rivers and Cross River states court ruling on Prince Uche Secondus to stop parading himself as National Chairman of the party as uncalled for.
Although a Kebbi State High Court had ruled that Secondus should remain the National Chairman of the party but another court sitting in Calabar, Cross River capital banned him from resuming office.
But, Ogundele while speaking with Orient Daily in Abeokuta, said that he and other members of the party in the state were disappointed at the courts’ rulings.
He expressed his displeasure that the ruling was coming from a court in Rivers State where the sitting governor, Nyesom Wike, is a member of the party while Ben Ayade of Cross River state was also a former member.
The chairman alleged that the court rulings against Secondus to stop from parading himself as the national chairman of the party as the handiwork of the All Progressive Party to resist the PDP from taking over the reigns of power in 2023.
He stressed that APC was aware that it had failed Nigerians due to the poverty level, hunger, and insecurity it plunged the nation into, adding that the ruling party was using some unscrupulous elements to frustrate the chances of the party to win in the next election
Ogundele said “There is no organisation that doesn’t have issues. The judgment that came from Rivers and Cross Rivers state courts is just quite unfortunate.
“We are not in support of Prince Uche Secondus not to be the national chairman of the party because the ruling was uncalled for.
“It is just unfortunate that the issue is coming out now especially when the electorates have considered the party to be the most alternative for them.”
