Residents of Omuo and Isinbode Ekiti communities in Ekiti East Local Government Area of Ekiti State have appealed to the state government and other stakeholders in the state to help in reconstructing the Omi-Oja Bridge which collapsed recently.
Speaking with Orient Daily on behalf of the residents of the two affected communities, Reverend Olubunmi Ojo, said the bridge which linked Isinbode with Omuo-Ekiti collapsed as a result of heavy down pour.
Reverend Ojo, who is popularly known as Opejole explained that since the bridge collasped, farmers in the areas no longer transport their farm produce to the market.
He said the two communities have over the years been repairing the bridge but the magnitude of the latest rainfall was too much for them to handle, hence the call for government’s intervention.
According to him, the development has cut them off from other members of the area, urging government to bail them out.
