Re-Religion and the Nigerian state

I wish to refer to the article captioned “Religion and the Nigerian state” written by Gabriel Attah, in page 9 of Orient Daily edition of February 3, 2017. Attah was furious about the instruction of Pastor Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries to his congregants to kill the ubiquitous herdsmen whenever they venture into the church premises to make good their threat to kill him for condemning their atrocities in parts of the country, especially in Kaduna state.

The Islamic terrorists group which masquerading as herdsmen, are adjudged as the forth deadliest terrorists in Africa, south of Sahara, according to the United Nations. Due to unhidden Islamisation agenda, these foot-soldiers of Jihad, pretending to be herdsmen know all the forests in Nigeria. They kill Christians, rape women, drive their cattle to eat up farm produce, burn houses and muster the temerity to colonise areas they find pastures for their herds.

As an unhidden agenda, these blood-hounds brazenly go with the impression that they are above the law because the law enforcement agencies have been flooded at the middle and top echelon with people who have sympathies with their cause. Little wonder, none of these murderous herdsmen has ever been arrested and prosecuted successfully to serve as a deterrent to others.

The sinister agenda did not start during now, but it snow-balled into ferocity due to the fact that the present administration has not as much as condemned the atrocities committed by these killer herdsmen. Some Christians wrongly misunderstand the injunctions of the Bible and become plain fools and cannon fodder to wild animals appearing like human beings-herdsmen.

Who said that the founder of Christian religion, Jesus Christ while going about his teaching did not go violent at a point in time to dramatise the seriousness of his mission? For instance, He demonstrated violence at the temple where the worshippers turned it into market place and he used lethal thong to beat and drive the unconscionable merchants out saying: “My house is not for trading but for prayer.

As far as Christians are concerned, there is time for violence as the Bible exhorted: “Since the time of John the Baptist, the Kingdom of God suffered violent; and the violent takes it by force. The impunity of the herdsmen which the unconscionable northern Moslems referred to as “foreign herdsmen” was due to the docility of Christians who believe that they cannot mobilize appropriate weapons and defend themselves against blood-hounds who purportedly fight for Allah. If Christians have been doing that the incessant killing would have stopped decades ago.

The South-south CAN has said “enough is enough; and that any other reported case of killing and raping will be visited with equal force, since nobody has the monopoly of terrorist acts. This has been the usual tepid threat observed in the breach which has been making the serial murderers to continue. DSS operatives and police should not be blamed because they carrying out hidden agenda of Islamists. The President does not listen to the admonition to implement the 2014 National Conference report where state police is recommended as panacea for the raging madness of Fulani herdsmen dubbed “foreign herdsmen” by hypocrites and compulsive murderers using religion as cover-up.
