Residents of Osogbo, the Osun State capital have called on the management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to stop any train movement scheduled for Offa-Ilorin stations en-route Osogbo.

This is because a portion of the rail track on that route has been washed up by flood as a result of the downpour in Osogbo on Tuesday night.

The portion of the track affected by the flood, this medium learnt, is located at the Power Line area of the state capital.

The residents lamented that the flood had exposed the track to accidents.

A resident, Adigun Fatai, lamented that he was not sure that the railway authorities were aware of the situation yet.

He also called on government to expedite action and do whatever it would take to prevent a waiting disaster from occurring.

Another resident, Adeshina Akanbi, cautioned residents to be on the lookout and be careful around the link bridges and areas affected by the flood.

“Please don’t stand on this bridge around Obate-Okebaale area. They are weak already.”

The rainfall which lasted three hours started destroyed property worth millions of naira.
