Police rescue abducted Benue Commissioner’s wife as Ortom commends effort

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom yesterday visited the Benue Police headquarters to commend them for their efforts in rescuing the wife of the State’s Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals, Mrs. Ann Unenge who was recently abducted.

Governor Ortom commended the operations team, led by CSP Justin Gberindyer in their efforts to fight acts of criminality in the State. 

He gave a pat on the back to the State’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Audu Madaki and his team for the strategy implored in rescuing the victim without paying ransom as earlier demanded by the suspected kidnappers. 

Governor Ortom who also expressed gratitude to those who volunteered information leading to the killings and rescue of the wife of the victim directed his Special Adviser on Security to liaise with law enforcement agents and ensure apprehension of the landlord whose house is been used in keeping kidnapped victims, adding that such buildings risk demolition by urban board to serve as a deterrent to others. 

He pledged to do everything humanly possible to support police operatives towards ensuring a crime free State. 

In  an interview, with  journalists CP Madaki, explained that three out of the six syndicates  were gun down during gun battle  while others  who sustained  injuries    were  taken  to  the Benue State University Teaching hospital for treatment. 

The police boss further informed that conscious efforts by men of the command who led to the tracked down of the syndicates at BIPC quarters in the capital city whereby officers of the command through exchange gun battle succeeded in over powering them.

It could be recalled that Mrs Unenge was last Thursday abducted at gunpoint by kidnappers, at the ever-busy high level, a populated density area in the  capital city.
