All the major entrance gates to the Oyo State Government Secretariat, Agodi-Gate, Ibadan was on Wednesday shut down as aggrieved youths in their hundreds staged a protest over the alleged killing of a 15-years-old boy by suspected members of the Oyo State Security Network Agency codenamed Amotekun Corps.

The youths who arrived at the Secretariat gate unannounced blocked all the linking roads around the secretariat main gate thereby disrupting human and vehicular movement.

The angry protesters also carried the corpse of the victim on the roof of a tricycle and called on Governor Seyi Makinde to fish out the killer Amotekun corp.

Efforts by the Governor’s Executive Assistant on Security, CP Sunday Odukoya (rtd) to pacify and talk to the aggrieved protesters proved abortive as they insisted on seeing and talking to the governor alone or no one else.

Details of the ugly incident still remain unclear, however, according to an unconfirmed report, the deceased who was an apprentice at a private printing press at Mokola, went out on Tuesday night to buy food around Uncle Joe area where he met his untimely death.

The protesters blocked Mokola and Government Secretariat roads. However, intervention by security personnel restored in Mokola while the protesters moved to the state Secretariat gate.

Efforts made by the Orient Daily correspondent to get a reaction from the Commandant of Amotekun Corps in the state, Olayinka Olayanju proved abortive as he did not answer calls made to his mobile phone number nor did he respond to messages sent to same mobile phone number.
