Nigerians have been called upon to demonstrate unflinching support for the officers and men of the Nigerian armed forces in their ongoing and sustained offensive in the first against insurgency and terrorism.
This is even as they have been charged to dutifully pray and provide credible intelligence so that the troops can continue to take the battle to the enemies’ enclaves.
This call was contained in a statement issued by the Olowu of Owu Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, on Monday in Osogbo.
In the statement, Oba Makama, who is the permanent chairman of Owu Kings, also expressed satisfaction with the recent successes recorded by the military which has culminated in the surrendering of large numbers of insurgents in the past weeks.
The traditional ruler, who urged the troops not to relent in decisively dealing with what he called the remnants of terrorists still hiding in their forest camps, added that the wise ones amongst them were surrendering along with their arms and ammunition, which he said, was a sign of good things to come.
While commending the chief of army staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya, for his efforts in the insurgency war, the monarch disclosed that the sustained military onslaught on the shores of Lake Chad and the Sambisa Forest General Area was a development which called for happiness amongst citizens.
He noted that, with the recent string of military victories, the chief of army staff and the troops of Operation Hadin Kai had proven their commitment in defending the territorial integrity of the country.
The Nigerian Army, recently, announced that over 200 insurgents surrendered with their families and weapons in Borno.
