Nigeria winger Henry Onyekuru is keen to join Galatasaray on a permanent deal instead of linking up with Greek giants Olympiacos, Orient Sports reports.
Onyekuru spent the second part of the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Galatasaray, his third loan stints with the Turkish club.
Galatasaray failed to exercise the option to sign the 23-year-old on a permanent basis which expired last week opening the door to other suitors.
Olympiacos, who tried to lure the former Everton player to Greece in January according to reports have agreed a deal with Monaco to sign him on loan for a year but he is not willing to join the club.
According to aksam.com.tr, Onyekuru made a request to Monaco’s sporting director Paul Mitchell to wait for Galatasaray’s presidential election slated for June 19 before deciding his next move.
Onyekuru scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 71 appearances across three loan spells at Galatasaray.
Onyekuru handed ultimatum to decide Olympiacos future
Nigeria winger, Henry Onyekuru has reportedly been given an ultimatum to decide his future within this weekend.
Onyekuru is on loan at Galatasaray from Olympiacos with the former pulling all available strings to sign him on a permanent contract.
The Turkish giants, Galatasaray, are not in any way ready to give up on landing the services of Henry Onyekuru on a permanent contract this summer, according to media reports emanating from Turkey.
But it has emerged that Galatasaray failed to make use of the 4 million 350 thousand Euro option which they had available until 11 June to sign Onyekuru permanently from Ligue 1 club, Monaco.
According to Turkish sports daily, Fanatik, the future of manager, Fatih Terim will be a decisive factor in the Nigerian winger completing a permanent summer move to Galatasaray.
Giving priority to Cim Bom, the 24-year-old star is, however, waiting for the presidential election to be held on 19 June so as to know if the next Galatasaray will retain Terim.
Olympiacos on the other hand reportedly gave Onyekuru an ultimatum until this weekend for the Nigerian attacker to make a decision on his future but he is waiting on Galatasaray.
According to Fanatik, Galatasaray boss, Terim whose future at the Turkish Super Lig side is at the moment quite uncertain sent a message to Onyekuru, saying ‘Wait to hear from me.’
And according to new reports in Turkey, the 24-year-old winger wants to stay in Istanbul and play for a team in the city even if he does not get to continue with Galarasaray.
Onyekuru who has a contract with Monaco until 2024 scored four of his five goals in 14 Turkish Super Lig appearances for Galatasaray during the season playing as a substitute.
