Ogun State House of Assembly has threatened to arrest a Nollywood actor, Mr. Goriola Hassan, should he fail to honour its invitation for parading himself as Olu of Imobi-Ijebu in Ijebu East Local Government Area of the State.
The Assembly through the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs led by Hon. Bolanle Ajayi said that if Hassan refused to heed to its summon for the third time over the controversial Obaship stool, it won’t hesitate to issue arrest warrant on him.
Ajayi and other members of the committee who warned Hassan to desist from parading himself as the Olu of Imobi, advised the actor to honour the House’s invitation and prove his claim over the Obaship stool at Imobi by Imobi’s descendants’ union.
The lawmakers also advised Hassan to follow the directive of the state government conveyed to him through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and appear before the Committee on 2nd September, 2021 by 11:00a.m at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Earlier, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, said that Hassan had approached him last week on the matter but he (the Speaker) told him to honour the invitation of the committee, else a warrant of arrest would be issued against him.
Hon. Oluomo added that the Assembly was empowered to investigate his purported claim to the stool at Imobi, which the stakeholders in the community had petitioned the assembly.
