A member of an armed robbery syndicate, Ayomide Adebayo was on Wednesday arrested in Ibadan after robbing at an eatery around General Gas in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
It was learnt that a three-man robbery gang stormed the eatery, obtained cash, phones and other valuables from some customers and the owner of the eatery who was also around during the incident.
A victim who later recover his phone told Orient Daily that, “Two of them came into the eatery, pointed gun at all of us and ordered that we corporate by lying down which we did after which they took our phones, money and other valuables.
“Luck ran against them as one of the staff resisted them in their attempt to go in to pack all the money in their vault. As he was struggling with them, one of them escaped and joined the motorcyclist that was already waiting outside while the other one was caught and some items recovered from him. A local pistol and cartridges were found on the victim”, the source disclosed.
At the Akobo Police station, Ayomide confessed that he and his partners hired the motorcyclist who carried them to the scene.
He said that the motorcyclist was not part of the syndicate as he was just hired as a bike man
Ayomide said himself and his partner whose name is also Ayo met at a ‘Ghetto’ in Bodija Market.
