“This is just the beginning.’’ And that was the comment that set the internet abuzz. That comment came from a formal address he gave after receiving an award at an important ceremony. It was Mr P of the defunct group, Square who said this.

Let’s digress a little to the beginning of PSquare. P-Square began in St. Murumba secondary school, a Catholic school in Jos, Plateau State Nigeria.

Peter and Paul joined their school music and drama club where they began singing, dancing, and mimicking songs by MC Hammer, Bobby Brown and Michael Jackson.

Drawing inspiration from their music idol Michael Jackson, they began break dancing, formed the group called “Smooth Criminals” in 1997.

Their artistic talent and precise dance routine soon made them household names in the city of Jos, where they performed at school functions and other occasions.

Together, they won several awards. Trouble started first when the duo disagreed in 2014 over their manager’s remuneration followed by a rumour by Peter that his brother disrespected his wife, Lola Omotayo.

However our attention is drawn to the multiple recognition awards given to the now solo singer, Mr P.

First, he beat the likes of Davido, Casper Nyovest amongst others to win the best international male artiste at the 2018 edition of the International Achievement Recognition Awards (IARA) which took place earlier this year.

He wrote:

“This is just the beginning,” adding that “my very first award as a solo act! You guys made this happen. Slow and Steady but surely! God is great……Thanks again and I’d like to dedicate this award to my super fans and my awesome son Cameron who’s birthday is today. Double celebration for sure. More coming.’’

Before then, he had released a single titled, “Cool it down” at the beginning of him going solo. The song was released under his record label, PClassic Records, and was directed by Patrick Elis.

However, asides music, Mr P has other interests. Recently, he unveiled His fashion business. He named it, ‘Classic P Collection’.The singer announced the launch of the new fashion line on Instagram and the announcement was well welcomed by fans.

The post from Mr P read:

Hey guys this is from my new clothing line collections! Don’t worry about the bold name by the way. It is for my own personal wear?????? What do you guys think??????? #ClassicP #ByMrP The name of the Clothing line will be unveiled soon??????????

Reacting on several reactions from fans on the group, PSquare, he said there is no going back. He reveals that family business is not a good thing to go into and clearly states that he will never do that even if he comes back into this world.

‘’There is no going back, my fans should move on.’’

Well, Mr P, we appeal that you reconsider your decision. Family is important and we are strongly behind your coming back as one group bounded by love and unity. We love you and we want our PSquare.
