… urges staff to offer quality services

Management and staff of Staff Maranatha University, Mgbidi in Imo State, have been urged to go above board in effort to offer effective and quality services to meet the vision and mission of founding members of the faith-based learning institution.
The Chancellor, Rev. Chukwuemeka Ngubo and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ogwu Ekeoma Ogwu gave the charged at opening ceremony of the 3-day retreat organized by the institution for the management staff and other members of the school community.
Ngubo and Ogwu disclosed that the institution which was founded to provide innovative academic programmes, is committed to training and empowering individuals with skills and abilities by providing qualitative access to knowledge for service to mankind.
According to them, the institution was also built, based on faith, excellence and integrity, to contribute to the growth and development of tertiary education in Nigeria and globally.
Ngubo said, “Maranatha University is not just a university but one with a mandate of God. That is why I want you to see yourselves and work as instruments in the hands of God to transform our generation through your contributions and services here.”
“Our dream is whoever passes through this university and graduates as a medical doctor or whatever profession, that person is a potential minister of the gospel.
Ogwu, who is a former VC of Abia State University, Uturu added, “the essence of this retreat is to afford the staff the opportunities to appreciate the vision of the founders and to internalize the core values of the university to enable them offer their best for the good of the university, students and the society at large.”
Asked what the society would expect from the staff and students of the institution, Ogwu said, “excellence in all directions. We will go for the best. We will do the best for the community and for the society in every aspect.”
He also advised other managements of the universities to continue to pursue excellence, adding, beyond churches and ministries who are supposed to lead people to Christ, University is the next place where people are groom for life.”
Also, speaking to newsmen during the event, the school Registra, Sir Chibueze Egwu also reiterated the commitment of the school to offer quality education embedded with fear of God and uprightness.
He assured that the staff are determined to add values and contribute effectively to education development of the society through their services and impacts on the students.
On the expectations from the retreat, Egwu said the management team and staff will further be exposed to how best university is run or managed.
“We also expect that at the end of the retreat, their attitude and disposition towards work will be improved and they will also have better understanding of the university culture.” he said.
