-says illegal Chadian, Nigerien immigrants committing evil at Lokpanta/Isiukwuato axis

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state, has tasked the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and other military and para-military agencies in the state, to take a deeper look at the activities of illegal immigrants whose activities have become inimical to the state and her people.
Ikpeazu made the call when he received in audience of the deputy comptroller general of Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs Anthonia Opara, in his office at Government House Umuahia.
He noted that these illegal immigrants, especially from Chad and Niger Republic,
had continued to perpetrate criminal activities along the Lokpanta and Isuikwuato axis.
The governor said he received credible intelligence on the criminal activities of the gang and would share such intelligence with the Nigeria Immigration Service Command in Abia state, since a good number of the criminals were not Nigerians. He noted that the victims of the criminal activities of these people include students and lecturers.
He assured that the Abia state government would continue to support the Nigeria Immigration Service in the state in carrying out its mandate and congratulated Opara, a former comptroller of immigrations in Abia state on her elevation to the position of deputy comptroller general of immigrations.
The governor also expressed appreciation to the Immigration Service and its supervising ministry of interior for restoring the Abia Command of Immigration Service after the premises was attacked on May 29, 2021 by arsonists and gunmen.
Mrs Opara, deputy comptroller general, NIS in charge of migration at the headquarters of the service, thanked Governor Ikpeazu for his support to the Abia Command of Immigration Service, as demonstrated in the rehabilitation, by the State Government, of the State Command of the Service and reassured him of the continued partnership of the Nigeria Immigration Service with the state government.
