The House of Representatives member reprinting Njikoka/Anaocha/Dunukofia Federal Constituency, Anambra State, Hon. Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo has alleged that the malfunctioning of the BIVAS is an intentional “sabotage” by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to frustrate the governorship election in the state.

Hon. Nwankwo who was able to cast his vote after several attempts to get accredited said, “The process is not going well. The machine is not working. INEC is the one sabotaging the election.“Imagine a polling unit of over 1000 registered voters, only 20 voters have been able to vote.

“National Assembly, we never voted against electronic voting. It’s good but INEC is sabotaging the election,” he said.

TheCable can report that at 11:35am PU003 and PU015 Ebe Enuagu Hall, Enugu-Ukwu Ward 001, election had started but the BIVAS was malfunctioning. Voters are struggling to get accredited but the BIVAS is capturing their fingerprints.

Polling unit 003 has a total of 1466 registered voters while polling unit 015 has a total of 4 registered voters. But as at 11:35 when TheCable arrived the polling units, only a total of 20 voters have been able to vote.

It was also observed that although there is a reasonable turn out of voters, the number does not equal to the statistics of the registered voters at the two polling units.

Meanwhile, a joint patrol team of security personnel including the Army, Police, DSS, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and Immigration visited Hon. Nwankwo’s polling unit to ascertain the process and atmosphere of the election.
