The Enugu state police command has arrested two men in unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition of different calibres.
The command’s operatives from the 9th Mile division at Obioma, Udi local government area, also, on Tuesday, recovered a Toyota Hummer commercial bus belonging to the Onitsha South Transport Company.
The vehicle was recovered following the prompt response of the police to a report by the driver that armed robbers snatched the vehicle from him at the 9th Mile bypass. The robbers had abandoned the vehicle to escape, owing to intense pressure from the police team who went in search of them.
Also arrested were two men, Chijioke Ijomanta and Benjamin Mela, both of Isiagu Ugwuaji in Enugu South local government area. They were suspected to be members of Vikings Confraternity cult group by the command’s Anti-Cultism Squad (ACS). Their arrest was said to be sequel to revelations in an ongoing criminal investigation that led to the recovery of one pump-action gun.
The command’s commissioner of police, Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, also commended the efforts of his men and charged them to sustain the tempo and remain vigilant and continue to support the command in the fight against criminal acts.
