Dr. Okwudiri Ekwe Elected Chairman of Enugu State Legislative Aides Forum

Dr. Okwudiri Ekwe, Senior Legislative Aide to Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, has been elected Chairman of the Enugu State Legislative Aides Forum (NASLAF) at the National Assembly in Abuja.

An academic and lecturer in Mass Communication, Dr. Ekwe’s emergence followed weeks of consensus-building and endorsements from key stakeholders within the NASLAF National leadership, South East Zonal leadership, and members of the Central Working Committee.

NASLAF serves as the umbrella union for legislative aides in both chambers of the National Assembly, focusing on their welfare and development. The organization is led by High Chief Emeka Nwala, who is supported by leaders from the six geopolitical zones and 36 state chairmen.

Enugu State has around 85 Commission’s Legislative Aides linked to the Senate President, Speaker, and other federal lawmakers, along with over 350 Non-Commission’s Aides.

In response to his election, Dr. Ekwe expressed gratitude to God and his colleagues for their support. He stated, “I am humbled by the unwavering support from my respected senior colleagues at both the national and Southeast levels. This assignment is a call to service, and I promise to lead with integrity, probity, and accountability.”

Dr. Ekwe has a rich academic background, previously serving as a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Samuel Adegboyega University, Edo State, before joining the National Assembly. He is committed to upholding the core values of service and ensuring the development of legislative aides in Enugu State.
