Football drama of the worst has played out in Ebonyi State with FA Cup winners, Cynosure FC ‘schemed out of the Aiteo Cup draws conducted Thursday in Abuja, Orient Sports can exclusively report.
Following CAF’s directives to member affiliates to submit names of their representatives in its inter club competitions for next season, NFF equally directed states do likewise, resulting in only three clubs registering for Ebonyi FA competition for this year.
Checks reveal that as defending Champions, Cynosure was drawn bye for final where they edged Ngwa Utd on penalty kicks after 1-1 draw regulation time result.
But the drama played out Thursday when the national Aiteo Cup draw was conducted in Abuja with Cynosure FC conspicuously missing.
Instead, Ebonyi State had Ngwa All Stars FC as representatives, not even Ngwa Utd.
“We contacted our FA Chairman, Senator Obinna Ogbah and he told us that the Secretary who conducted the FA Cup games in the state was not known to the FA board”, Cynosure FC boss, Chidiebere Nweze said to Orient Sports.
It was gathered that what really played out was politics of Ebonyi State, where the former FA Secretary, Desmond Omeh, was said to have been removed and replaced by a new one, Obiesie.
The FA Board insists Obiesie was unknown to them and could not work with him because, the NFF statutes empowers the FA to appoint it’s own secretary.
Ogbah is seen as a strong PDP Chieftain in the state and is playing the ‘umbrella’ card.
The club financier could not be drawn into what step he was going to take towards ensuring that the ‘football wrong’ righted amidst speculation the players intend to storm Ebonyi State Government House, Abakaliki, on Friday (today) in protest against the injustice.
“These are young players who chose to shun street life and other social vices.
“These are boys who want work hard and earn a decent living for themselves.
“These are indigenes of the State, 30 of them who want to earn their living through their sweats.
“I’m not talking about what we spend on a daily basis keeping them together, giving them two square meals a day.
“My concern is their future, their career which will be adversely affected should this ‘injustice’ stand”, Nweze lamented.
Nweze also refused to be drawn into the ‘APC/PDP’ politics but counsels that the career of the players should be accorded top priority.
