The Civil Liberties Organization, (CLO) in Bayelsa State, has frowned at the ongoing abnormalities in the State-owned Glory Land Orphanage Home in Yenagoa.

Chairman of the CLO fact-finding team, Comrade David West, made the plea while presenting a five-page report to the Chairman of the organization, Chief Nengi James at his office.

According to Comrade West, the CLO in its findings, revealed that the children at the orphanage, numbering about 20, were relocated to a rented two bed room apartment, which he said was rather too small and not conducive for them.

He said to guarantee the future of the children, part of the report recommends for government to commence the building of the permanent site for the orphanage home.

Speaking further, the Chairman of the CLO Fact-Finding Team alleged that food items which were donated to the children at the orphanage were being siphoned in the guise that they were in excess and foods about to expire.

He, therefore, called on Governor Douye Diri to make an unscheduled visit to the orphanage to see things for himself.

Receiving the report, Chairman of the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), Chief Nengi James questioned why the budgetary provision which the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development said in a newspaper publication was meant for the orphanage, is yet to be channeled into the building of the Permanent site for the children.

Orient Daily reports that CLO also noted that copies of the report containing its recommendations have been forwarded to Governor Douye Diri and the Department of State Services (DSS).
