The Anambra State government has said that in order to forestall building collapse in the state, adequate mechanisms have been put in place to arrest those who erect buildings without approved building plans by the appropriate state agencies.

The Chairman, Anambra State Physical Planning Board, ASPPB, Mr. Chike Maduekwe, disclosed this when the Board appeared before the State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation to defend their 2021 budget.

Mr. Maduekwe explained that the measures would enable the Board to figure out agencies that connive with quacks engineers and developers to engage in building development without following due process.

He enjoined the public to always be willing to forward names of any of his staff that encouraged unprofessional builders to erect buildings to his office for disciplinary actions.

“We also warn developers who indulge in unprofessional misconduct by using quacks for building development to retrace their steps. Anyone caught will face the full wrath of the law,” Maduekwe warned.

Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Obinna Emeneka who explained that the meeting was to assess the performance of the Board with respect to their 2021 budget, praised the Board for generating huge revenue during the year with meager resources and challenged them to up the ante in the coming year.
