An Edo State High Court, sitting in Benin City, on Wednesday, fixed February 19, 2021, to hear the report of settlement between the Benin Electricity Distribution Company and the Edo Civil Society Organisations (EDOSCO).
The electricity distribution company filed a case against the former Coordinator General of Edo Civil Society Organisations (EDOSCO), Comrade Omobude Agho, and two other civil society actors for protesting against alleged poor power supply. At the resumption of hearing on the suit in a Benin high court, Benin City, Counsel to BEDC, P.A Akhatsokhe said they have made proposal to bring to end the lingering court suit between both parties.
“We came here to inform the court what we have been doing outside the court. We have made the proposal for settlement.
In his response, counsel to EDOSCO, Leonard Osa-uwagie said they have been served the proposed terms of the settlement and will look into it. “We were served proposed terms of the settlement. We will look at it. If it works for our client, then we will go ahead but if it doesn’t, we will make our own request by way of a counter term,” he said.
Following submissions by the Counsel, the presiding judge, Justice Victor O.A Oviawe, adjourned to February 19, for a report of settlement.
