Atiku, Akeredolu showers encomium on Makinde over remodelled Adamansigha stadium

It was pomp and pageantry on Wednesday as former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Governors Godwin Obaseki, Rotimi Akeredolu, among other dignitaries, showered encomium on Governor Seyi Makinde as the remodeled Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, was unveiled, on Wednesday.

Aside from lauding the remodeling by the Makinde administration, the various dignitaries expressed gladness that the stadium had been fashioned to be able to once again host matches of international standard.

Atiku Abubakar, in his remarks, described Makinde as a trailblazer, congratulating the Oyo governor for massive investment in infrastructure across the state even apart from the Adamasingba stadium.

On his part, the Ondo state governor, Akeredolu, expressed gladness that Super Eagles matches which typically are taken to Lagos can now hold in Ibadan.

Similar kudos were given by Governor Godwin Obaseki, General David Jemibewon and Chief Adegboye Onigbinde.

On his part, former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala said he was proud of Makinde for the stadium, urging him to see to maintenance of the stadium.

Speaking after giving the ceremonial kickoff, Governor Seyi Makinde explained that the stadium remodeling was informed by the need to tap talents and create opportunities for youths.

He added that plans were ongoing to improve on other facilities at Adamasingba especially building a new Centre Court for Tennis.

In addition, Makinde promised commitment to ensuring Shooting Stars Football Club grow stronger, while adding that work was ongoing to fix stadiums across all zones of the state.

Earlier, first Vice President, Nigeria Football Federation, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi assured that the Adamasingba stadium would soon host international football.

A novelty match between former players of Nigerian Super Eagles and Former Players of Shooting Stars Football Club ended 1-1.

While Shooting Stars Football Club of Ibadan wallop Tabor Sezana from Slovania five goals to nil.

Former governors, former deputy governors, political office holders, ex-footballers among others witnessed the unveiling.
