Abakaliki camping will aide Rangers' readiness for 2020/2021 NPFL – Coach Yusuf

Salisu Yusuf, Enugu Rangers technical adviser and former Super Eagles coach, has unveiled reasons behind the Coal City Flying Antelopes decision to open a week long preseason camp in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Orient Sports reports. 

On Monday, November 23, a contingent of of the 8th time Nigeria Champions comprising 37 players and officials departed for the ‘Rice City’ to fine tune strategies ahead the new domestic season. 

Yusus was full of optimism that the team will come good after the Abakaliki concentration camping. 

“Sincerely speaking, with what I have seen of the players since we resumed, I believe we shall make our fans happy at the end of the season”, the one time Kano Pillars gaffer said. 

“As we go for the one-week close camping in Abakaliki, it will give us opportunity to put finishing torches to the team we are building so as to fly our flag very high, in the season”.

Similarly, Tope Olusesi, captain of the Flying Antelopes shared his manager’s shrewd optimism.

“The preseason will continue in Abakaliki and I believe it will give the players enough time to create the understanding needed to challenge for both the Aiteo and league trophies in the coming season”, Olusesi said. 

While in Abakaliki, Rangers will engage some teams in friendly games with fellow NPFL side, Dakkada expected to be among the teams.

Amongst the players who were on board the Abakaliki train include former Dakkada players, Femi Ajayi and Esor Achibong.

 Others are Osas Okoro, Ibrahim Olawoyin, Tony Shimaga and Israel Abia.
