Love is supposed to be the most wonderful feeling. Love is a painful risk to take but the risk must be taken no matter how scary or painful it is. Loving someone means giving them the freedom to find their way. Love takes effort and needs acceptance. The journey of love is not always a happy ride. When love hurts, it’s painful and you often cry. You are sad because you feel your partner ignores you. Sometimes the things that give you joy can also hurt you.

Love thrives in hurting. If you don’t get hurt, you don’t learn how to love. Love doesn’t hurt all the time, though the hurting is still there to test you and help you grow.

Some persons often feel guilty if they hurt their partners, which happens unknowingly most of the time. It really hurts to see a loved one undergo pain. You’ll never love a person unless you risk for love.

Mr. Okechukwu Chinedu says, “Love is all about giving, not expecting the person to love back. Love always hurts because we expect same love in return. “It’s very rare to get same love in turn. You need to understand that love is selfless without any expectation. It is only then that you can enjoy love and not get hurt”.

Miss Elendu Chineye says, “Love is a wonderful emotion but if the person you love doesn’t return your feelings, that shatters your expectations. That is what hurts. Not being able to be with someone you love is what hurts”.

Mr. Daniel Emilia says, “loving isn’t what hurts, seeing someone you love with someone else is what hurts, having your trust broken by someone you love is what hurts, having someone you love cause you emotional pain is what hurts”. “Fighting with someone you love is what hurts” he said.

Mr. Delight Akoh says, “Love hurts because you choose to let the pain linger in your mind for so long that it accumulates other emotions and hurts you more. “Make up your mind to move on, and the pain of love will be much easier to bear and overcome” he said.

Mr. Sadiq Peter says, “Love is beautiful if you love the right person and that right person loves you in return”.

Mr. Patrick Anthony says, “Love only hurts when one partner is not faithful to the other or probably doesn’t trust the other and always suspicious of the other”.

Miss Sonia Igwe says, “Love hurts when you try to please your partner, show him love and it seems all your effort is a waste or when your partner does not reciprocate the love you give”.

Mr. Kenny Paul says, “Love hurts most when there is no respect, and when love is lost”.

Miss Ruth Mavis says, “Love hurts when there are boundaries set and restrictions between each other and you can no longer convey your needs and desires to your partner”.

Miss Chioma David says, “It hurts when you no longer have any communication, understanding, relationships, and love between each other”.

Miss Ifunanya Udoh says, “Love hurts when you know you love your partner, yet you know you can’t do anything to help your partner from stopping to hurt you”.

Mr. Henry Ebeh says, “Love connotes trust commitment and selflessness. “When trust is broken, commitment is redrawn, selfishness subsumes selflessness, that’s when love tends to be dangerous” he said.

Mr. Okoh Joy says, “In fact, love is hell; it hurts and shatters, especially when you are with the wrong partner. You tend to trust and submit to your partner with your body, love and so on, later on, you get to know that he has been cheating and flirting, it makes the person not to believe in love again”.

Mr. Emmanuel John says, “Love is beautiful, love itself doesn’t hurt, it is people who are in relationships that hurt themselves in the name of love”.

You can use these Bible verses about love to express joy, gratitude and happiness that you feel toward your partner. According to 1 Corinthians 13:4-5: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”
