Andrew Uwe has exclusively revealed to Orient Sports reasons why he took the decision to return to Nigeria football after a long playing and coaching spell abroad.
The former Nigeria center back who had managed German sixth tier league side, BV Essen, was last week appointed as Vandrezzer FC Academy coach.
Vandrezzer is a second tier Nigeria league side based in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.
Before his latest appointment, Uwe was Northwest of Germany Youth team assistant coach“I’m back home just to give back to my country what my country made me to be”, starts the defunct Leventis United captain. “And of course our grassroot football as well as our lovely football fans”.
Uwe, 54, holds German Elite Coaching licenses as well as the UEFA B coaching license.
During an illustrious playing career, Uwe helped Nigeria U20s,Flying Eagles to win bronze medal in the 1985 FIFA world Youth Championship dragged in Moscow, Russia.
He was also a member of the Iwuanyanwu Nationals squad that represented Nigeria in the 1988 Pre Olympic Games tournament in Seoul, South Korea.
Uwe also featured for the then Green Eagles that won silver at the 1988 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
