Police patrol team attached to the Aguata Division in Anambra state police command have recovered a stolen Highlander jeep from suspected armed robbers who fled after sighting police.
According to a statement issued by the Anambra state police command’s public relations officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, the patrol team stormed the scene following a distress call that two men went to a filling station to refuel with ash colored vehicle with REG. No AAA-625-ES and after refueling, refused to pay the fuel attendant, they threatened to shoot him.
“On sighting the police patrol team which responded promptly, the suspects fired a gun and escaped, but were forced to abandon the jeep, which was suspected to have been snatched at gun point after a hot pursuit. The vehicle was recovered, and when searched, a plate number with REG NO. KTU-314-EV was found inside the vehicle”, Mohammed said, stressing that investigation was ongoing as well as efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects to bring them to justice.
Mohammed, further urged the owner of the stolen jeep to come and claim his vehicle at Aguata Division or contact PPRO Anambra State Police Command through GSM no: 08060970639.
