The presidency has, again, dismissed calls by the senate that the nation’s service chiefs should resign or be sacked, due to the multi-pronged security challenges bedeviling the country.
Senators made the call Tuesday during plenary when the senate passed a resolution conveying the demand to the executive.
In a swift reaction on Tuesday evening, the presidency insisted that appointments and sack of service chiefs remains a presidential prerogative.
Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said in a brief statement that President Muhammadu Buhari, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, would do what is in the best interest of the country at all times.
