The eviction of Ka3na from the Big Brother Naija reality show less than 48 hours after her sex act with a male house mate, Praise, has stirred up moral questions. Although, the 26-year-old mother has since taken her controversial outing and failed bid to win the BBN contest on her strides, the dusts generated by her sex-romp with a soon to marry housemate has continued to swirl, generating mixed reactions.

Ms Kate (Ka3na) Jones became the first contestant to be evicted from the 2020 edition of the Big Brother Naija (BBN), the #Lockdown reality television programme during the first eviction show on Sunday, August 2.

Ka3na was one of the four housemates nominated for possible eviction, alongside Lilo, Eric and Praise. Also sent packing from the BBNaija season 5, evicted last Sunday was Lilo Boluwatife Aderogba, a 23-year-old dietician whose sizzling romance with Eric in the house was cut short by her eviction.

However, it was the elimination of the 26-year-old Ogoni, Rivers state born entrepreneur that has sent the social media on a meltdown. Not a few were surprised that she was the first person to be kicked out of the competition. First, she did not enjoy smooth relationship with most of the housemates, and so, it was no surprise that most of them voted for her exit.

However, her participation in the reality show took a controversial twist, when the mother of a girl child, rumoured to be married to a 64-year-old Englishman, and another housemate, Praise, were caught in a passionate sex act after a truth or dare game on Friday night. Praise, on the other hand, has a son, Jamie, with his fiancée, Wunmi Omoniwa. The pair were the first housemates to be caught in such act during the latest edition of the show.

Ka3na, who had earlier claimed that she was not attracted to young guys, was seen few days before the incident counting condoms in the house. To make matters worse, she later confided the incident to fellow housemates, Dorathy and Lucy.

“We did it, and it is normal,” she told them during a brief chat on the subject while cooling up in the garden on Saturday afternoon.

Ka3na later claimed in a video message delivered to her fans that she was forced off the show because, she was a strong contender for winning the prize money.

Mixed reactions:

Expectedly, mixed reactions have trailed Ka3na’s two-weeks long participation in the BBNaija season 5. Despite claims that she was separated from her husband before featuring in the show, many still considered her as married and so, not supposed to engage in such illicit affair with housemate.

Daniel Essien, dismissed Ka3na’s outing in the show as a show of disgrace to womanhood.

“A married woman, who has sex on national TV is a disgrace to herself, womanhood, and to all things decent”, he wrote.

Francis Ihesiaba also shares similar perspective, stressing: “I wonder what her family and friends will think. The story of her disgraceful performance in the Big Brother Naija show will not even end with two generations to come. It’s a lesson to all”.

Daniel Obiorah also expressed disappointment with her performance in the programme. He wrote: “I thought she would have been an ambassador to other women, who would want to take part in the program in future. Her pride was just too much; she boasts of herself as if she had everything in life, forgetting that she married a 60 years old man at her young age, forgetting that pride goes before a downfall.”

According to Obiorah, Ka3na’s sex romp on the show was a major let down for her and her family.

“She bragged that she doesn’t do small boys that she’s into older men; but na small boy shift her pant. In Ka3na’s video, we saw the body movement; we saw how he (Praise) was on her, going up and down, and how she used her legs to take her pants out. It’s obvious she brought it upon herself.”

“Her products now has a name tag- a married woman who had sex on International TV. It’s a stain, no matter how one sees it. If Lilo has done it, it would have been a different matter, and we would understand her plight; but not madam South Africa”, he added.

As for Julesville Omalicha, the sex act which robbed her of the opportunity of winning the show was a costly mistake.

“She’s in a game and her intention was to win or go far, right? Anything that will cost her that winning, including sex, is a distraction. She was the first to have sex, and first to be evicted. So, what’s the essence or she got in there just for sex? So, the sex was just to satisfy her horniness and not a strategy for winning? I think it is dumb act and an own goal, if it’s not a winning strategy.

Modesola Olasoji also disclosed that Ka3na plotted her downfall from the show.

Farominiyi Adazah Funmi, however, blamed the incident on alcohol. “They drank too much and it happened under the influence of alcohol; but I didn’t expect that from Ka3na and Praise because, they weren’t into each other like that in the house, and I’m sure the babe is regretting that shit afterwards.”

Vivian Emesaraonye Dimgba, however, argued that she was not married and should not be singled out for persecution, while leaving out the male housemate also caught in the sex act.

“She was separated from her husband. Besides, I don’t understand what the fuss was all about. So, are we claiming that the essence of womanhood is tied in between her legs? And the men, they didn’t lose their manhood, I suppose?”

Esiri Ukueku-Uduaghan also dismissed the criticisms against Ka3na as over the top reactions. She argued that what she did was not worse than what some other housemates had done, and still, not crucified.

She wrote: “The big deal is that the same people, who dragged Ka3na will not drag Erica. Erica has been crowned with good girl status, while Nengi and ka3na have been vilified by those, who crowned Erica good girl.  People are actively trying to embellish the tale by calling it fingering, to distance themselves from the truth that they had sex because, they still feel the need to police and shame women for their choices with their body.”

However, some commentators also considered Praise culpable in the immorality blame game. For Osmaniah Joy: “People may have forgotten that Praise has a woman at home, either married or engaged. So, that should equally be criticised. I wonder what his fiancé will be feeling like at home. If she’s not a patience type, I see her hurting herself by going for another man during this period.”

Godstime Iyayi reacted: “As far as I’m concerned, the show is full of immorality and doesn’t pass any good message; but Praise fucked up big time. You are engaged and you still dey smash for there? That’s why I love guys like Mike and Laycon; always respectful and do things using their brains, not anus”.

Judging from the message she delivered to her fans, BossNation, Ka3na appears unfazed by her controversial performance and early exit from the BBNaija show. Although, she admitted having “mixed feelings’ over her early exit from the show, Ka3na summarised her ill-fated participation in the contest as a mere temporal setback, stressing: “It is only a game at the end of the day.” Bosslady, as she is fondly called, however, hinted that she featured in the reality tv show to sell her name and brand, and that “I will continue working on my brand. I am grateful for this platform”.

Ka3na, who described herself as a strong woman that wants more from life, is most likely going to latch unto her BBNaija appearance to project herself and her luxury fashion brand. With several properties and a net worth of about $50,000, she is already a top gear, but many commentators consider her July 31 night sexcapades in the big brother house as a big letdown for her.
