Prayer warriors have reportedly returned peace to the crisis-torn Onitsha Bridge-Head Drug Market after one year that peace eluded the market.
The caretaker committee chairman of the market, Chief Donatus Ajamma, and some major stakeholders in the market were said to have collaborated with prayer warrior groups in the market towards the return of peace.
The crisis, which started during the administration of the immediate past caretaker committee chairman of the drug market, Mr. Anthony Ezioba, reached its climax when a new evangelism group was set-up following the dissolution of the recognised market evangelism group, which had existed for years.
The dissolved evangelism group, which was very influential in the market, reportedly failed to recognise the new group that existed during the ban on weekly prayers in the market.
However, following the peaceful reconciliation of differences among the warring groups, the acting coordinator, Onitsha Bridge-Head Drug Market Evangelism Group, Bro. Emmanuel Anene Okeke, who confirmed the return of peace to the market, noted that return of peace was the reason for the end of the year prayer session to thank God for His intervention in the crisis that had torn the market for more than a year.
The prayer coordinator told our correspondent that God’s purpose for traders in the market would continue to manifest, and urged any person or group opposed to market prayers to turn a new leaf.
Board of Trustees’ chairman (BOT) of the market evangelism group, Bro. Benji Akudo, also commended the stakeholders and individuals who masterminded the return of peace to the evangelism group and the entire market, stressing that it was the major reason they donated foodstuffs to about 300 less privileged people, including 12 motherless babies’ homes, widows and the deformed in the society, as has been their tradition for years.
