Abia cleric emerges Nigerian farmers’ cooperative boss, pledges agric revolution

The newly appointed director, governing board of National Apex of Nigerian Farmers’ Cooperative Societies (NANFACOS), Abia state, Bishop Emeka Nwankpa, has pledged to revolutionalise the old form of food production and farmers welfare in the state to a modernized way.

Nwankpa made the promise at Ntigha, Isiala Ngwa autonomous community in Abia state following his appointment by the federal government on the 12th day of March, 2021.

He expressed appreciation to the federal government under the Buhari administration for finding him worthy for the appointment. He said, “This appointment is in good faith as I will be serving the masses particularly the farmers in Abia state by making sure that whatever that is supposed to come to them from the federal will definitely reach their door steps.

“I’m going to inject innovative ideas into NANFACOS so as to drive away hunger from the land and most importantly to be self-sufficient in food production as one of the cardinal policies of the Buhari administration.

“Revolution in food production has finally arrived Abia state as my appointment will revolutionalise the old form of food production and farmers welfare in the state to a modernized way as practiced in other regions across the country. This will ultimately be a blessing to farmers in Abia state and the entire south east region of the country.”

Presenting the certificate to the cleric, the National president of NANFACOS, Chief Nwogwugwu Uzoma described Nwankpa’s appointment as a blessing to farmers across the country in view of his pedigree and contributions to the social political and economic development of the country.

He said, “Farmers in the country are extremely at an advantage following this appointment because of Bishop Emeka Nwankpa pedigree as a profound man of God, an agriculturist and his contributions towards the social political and economic development of the country in general through his philanthropisim that stood the taste of time.  His addition to the governing board of farmers cooperative societies is indeed a blessing to farmers particularly in Abia state and the country in general.”
