Facts have emerged on why Ekiti State Government sealed off the offices of the National Population Commission (NPC) across the State.

Orient Daily recalls that the Ekiti State Government Task Force on the recovery of outstanding debts on State Government landed properties last week sealed off the offices of the Nigeria Population Commission.

According to the Coordinating Officer of the task force who spoke with Orient Daily in Ado-Ekiti, Mrs. Tiniola Ogundipe, the action became necessary after the Commission allegedly failed to honour repeated requests for payment on the said property.

Ogundipe further stated that the property will remain sealed until full payment is made by the Commission. She advised the commission to urgently visit the office of the task force at the Ekiti State’s Ministry of Justice to clear all outstanding debts.

In a related development, Ogundipe further disclosed that the process of revoking the more than 1,500 plots of unclaimed or unpaid land in the Housing estates across the State has commenced.

She said that letters of revocation are already being sent while notices of revocation will be affixed on the affected plots of land.

It will be recalled that the Ekiti State Government established the Task force on the recovery of outstanding debts on the State government’s Landed Properties specifically to recover the over One Billion naira owed the State government by individuals and corporate bodies who purchased lands and houses from the State’s Housing Corporation but refused to make payments in full.
