Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has commiserated with the ruling All Progressives Congress in the State over the death of a prominent member of the Party, Chief Rex Olawoye.
The deceased died early Thursday morning.
A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaiye, the Governor described the deceased as a patriot and a pillar of the struggle that enthroned the ‘Otoge’ administration in the State.
“Baba Rex Olawoye was a delight to be with, a soft-spoken gentleman and orator, a lover of younger generation, a dogged fighter, and certainly, a statesman who played a pivotal role in the political development of the State over the past few decades. We will miss his clarity of thought, his brilliance, and his constructive advice on governance. His words of wisdom even on his sickbed when I last spoke with him were quite reassuring as we were earnestly expectant of his recovery,” the Governor said.
“On behalf of my family, the government and people of the State, I salute the commitments of Chief Rex Olawoye to the collective struggle of our people and the growth of our State. My profound commiserations go to his family, his generation of wise Kwara Elders and the APC family in Kwara State. May God comfort the family he left behind and grant him repose.”
In his reaction, a member of Governor AbdulRazaq’s kitchen cabinet, Prince Sunday Fagbemi described the death as shocking.
“Shocking and painful!! Chief was a valuable and forthright gentle man. Easy-going but firm. God grant the departed soul eternal repose and family both blood, political and spiritual fortitude to bear this great loss. We’ve lost a gem.”
Until his death, Chief Rex Olawoyin was a strong member of APC in Kwara State and was a former Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area in Kwara State.
He was a very vocal radio personality and member of the “OtoGee” Movement whose political machination enthroned Governor AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman of Kwara State.
