A middle-aged man, Igbo Thomas, has been remanded at the Awka Correctional Center, in Anambra State, over alleged defilement of his three biological daughters in Enuoji village, Enugwu Ukwu, in Njikoka Local Government Area of the State.
The State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) had on May 24, 2021, arrested the suspect at Okolo Ani village, Igbo Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, for allegedly having canal knowledge of the daughters.
The suspect had confessed to the crime, but blamed it on alcohol influence while the victims were taken to hospital for medical attention.
The NSCDC Commandant, Vincent Ogu, had ordered for discrete investigation into the matter before the suspect would be charged to court.
Public Relations Officer, Okadigbo Edwin, in a statement, on Wednesday, said the suspect was eventually arraigned at the State High Court, Awka, and was remanded at the Correctional Center by the judge following the conclusion of investigations.
He said, “It will be recalled that on 24/5/2021, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, arrested one Mr. Igbo Thomas ‘m’ of Okolo Ani village, Igbo Etiti LGA, Enugu State, for allegedly having canal knowledge of his three daughters.
“Upon conclusion of thorough investigation, the suspect was arraigned at the State High Court, Awka, and has been remanded at Awka Correctional Center by the judge.
“Meanwhile, the State Commandant, Comdt. Vincent Ogu, has called on parents to be more responsible in taking care of their children.”
