No fewer than 100 lucky Igbo apprentice traders are to be granted a total of N50 million by International Breweries Limited, brewers of Hero lager beer, as part of their settling into self-reliance on graduation.
This was made known Wednesday by the marketing director, International Breweries Plc , Tolulope Adediji, at the IGBA BOI press conference in Onitsha, Anambra state.
She added that each of the lucky 100 apprentices would receive half a million naira, (N500,000) after a rigorous selection process from among many who were to have a maximum of six months left to serve. They were also to have proven to be worthy trainees over their years of apprenticeship.
According to Adediji, the apprentice traders would be picked from six major markets that include, Onitsha, Awka, Enugu, Owerri, Aba and Lagos.She hinted that the IGBA BOI campaign tour was a follow-up to the Aha Gi Efula (May your Name Never be lost) campaign of Hero lager.“We inspired consumers of Hero to aspire for success and encouraged them to strive to leave lasting legacies.The campaign also serves as a reminder and boost to the courage, resilience, hard work, and persistent nature of Nigeria’s young men and women.With the IGBA BOI campaign, we are going one step further to entrepreneurship success through mentorship, the award of grants and business advisory.”Speaking, the marketing manager, Margaret Igabali, said the brand would embark on a tour of Alaba International market, Ogbaru main market, Onitsha main market, Nkwo Nnewi Market, Awka, Coal Camp Market, Enugu, Owerri, Ariaria International Market, Aba, and Ladipo International Market, Lagos, to invite apprentices to submit their entries for consideration in conjunction with their trade masters.Hero lager, popularly called ‘O’Mpa, she said has been at the forefront of recognition and rewarding its working passionate consumers on the need to work hard.Earlier, the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, who was represented by Chief Chukwudebe Samuel, commended International Breweries, makers of Hero lager beer. Also, the brand manager of Hero lager, Dubem Orji, said the beer brand promoted the culture and tradition of Igbo people
Highlight of the event was performance by some Nollywood artists that included, Nkem Owo, Zolo and Odogwu Malaysia.
