From Mokwugwo Solomon, Awka
In a bid to beef-up security, some traders and stakeholders in Ogbaru Main Market in Anambra State, recently, donated one hundred pieces of solar electricity gadgets to the market.
The traders, who did not want their names mentioned, said they made the donation as part of their contributions for a better Ogbaru Main Market; as well as to support the leadership of the President General of the market, Chief Daniel Nwanodi.
They said, “Our new PG is eager to work for the general welfare of Ogbaru Main Market. Since inception, we are yet to know any of our past presidents, who is so committed to the security of traders, their shops and their goods.
“Security is not one man’s business; so, all of us must join hands to make Ogbaru Main Market an exemplary market in Anambra State. We are happy with the leadership of Chief Nwanodi, and we shall support him.”
Responding, Chief Nwanodi thanked the traders for their gestures, and urged them to do more.
He also told the traders that he was making frantic efforts to ensure that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FERMA) return to site, and complete work on gully sites in the market, which he said, has already destroyed 50 shops.
He also reminded them that his leadership is enforcing the ban on zero tolls for certain categories of petty traders, barrow pushers, among others. He said the enforcement is in line with Governor Charles Soludo’s directive, which aims at bringing sanity to markets in the state.
