Nigeria’s Pillar of Sports, Donatus Agu Ejidike, who was a special guest of honour at the grand finale of the YSFON soccer tournament, says sports is a veritable tool to fight against growing insecurity across the country, Orient Sports reports.
The maiden edition of the U-17 YSFON competition’s finals took place at the NEROS Stadium, Nanka in Anambra State.
Ejidike said sports remain a platform to meaningfully engage the youths.
According to him Nigeria is today no longer safe, because the vast majority of our youths are not gainfully employed; sports remain a veritable platform to accommodate these teeming youths.
The pillar of sports adds: “I feel happy that a traditional ruler like Igwe of Nanka has shown the way by sponsoring an inaugural edition of the Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), U-17 soccer tournament.
“I urge other Traditional rulers and well-meaning Anambra indigenes to emulate him and use sports to engage the youths in their various domains.’’
He assured that the office of the Nigeria pillar of sports would be ever ready to partner with traditional institutions, corporate bodies and well-meaning Nigerians to promote youths and sports development.
