The Anambra Indigenes in the Diaspora, who have endorsed the All Progressive Grand Alliance
(APGA) candidate, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for the November 6 governorship election have
say their action is hinged on their concern for security of lives and property, as well as
advancement of development in all sectors of Anambra state.
The group disclosed this in a statement endorsed by former Mayor, Enfield England, UK, Ernest
Ezeajughi, Mayor, Atlanta Georgia, USA, Prince Neville Uchendu and Chairman, Planning and
Strategy Committee, Dr Michael Chukwujekwu and made available to reporters in Awka on
Tuesday. The group is made up of people living in the United States of America, United
Kingdom, Russia, Germany, Hong Kong, South Africa, Australia, Austria, Sweden, Denmark,
Spain, Italy and India.
It said its members’ decisions to pitch their tent on the former governor of Central Bank of
Nigeria (CBN) was informed by wide range of issues affecting the state, especially on the
forthcoming gubernatorial poll.
The group pledged to mobilise forces in countries of their residence to galvanise development in
the state, if Soludo emerged the next governor.
The statement reads in part, “After due considerations, the Anambra Indigenes in the Diaspora
unanimously adopted Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as the preferred governorship candidate for the
November 6 election.
“The Diasporas overwhelmingly request the entire Anambra people to align with, and support
Prof. Soludo because the state is in serious need for sustenance of good governance.
“The candidates presented by other political parties are equally good, but our choice of Soludo is
devoid of bias and done in the best interest of the state.
“The state needs an individual with the intellectual dynamics to steer the ship of the state to safe
harbour considering the national and global socio-political and economic challenges.
“We are convinced that Soludo has the integrity, pedigree and visionary leadership acumen to
drive the state to the next level of development in infrastructure, human capital, industrial,
education, health, agriculture and other sectors.”
