The police in Ogun state have arrested a 39-year-old man, Oladapo Akinola, for allegedly defiling his five-year-old step daughter (name withheld) at Adigbe area of the state.
That suspect was arrested on September, 20, 2021 when the mother of the victim lodged a complaint at the Adigbe divisional police headquarters, saying that while she was bathing her daughter, she discovered blood in her private part.
She explained further that when she probed her daughter, the girl informed her that her husband, who happened to be the stepfather of the victim, had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
The police public relations officer, DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Tuesday
Oyeyemi said that the Adigbe police division, in response to the complaint, arrested the suspect, adding that “On interrogation, the suspect, who resides at Adewale Drive, Shokori Abeokuta, confessed to the crime without any justifiable reason.”
The victim has been taken to hospital by the police for medical treatment and report.
Meanwhile, the suspect has been transferred to the anti human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
