Unknown gunmen have reportedly invaded Boue and Gwara in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, killing three persons from each of the communities.
According to eyewitness reports, the incident which has forced residents to desert took place in the morning hours at Gwara community when the gunmen invaded the community, shooting three persons dead and later moved to Kono- Boue in the afternoon where they also shot three persons dead as many natives fled.
The Public Relations Officer of Community Development Committee of Boue Mr. Nwibakpo Golden in an interview with newsmen confirmed the incident.
Mr. Golden suggested the citing of a Police Division in the community and rehabilitation of the bad portions of the roads in the area to effectively tackle the incessant attacks on the community by gunmen.
Also the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Rivers State Police Command, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed the incident said that it was a Cult clash in Khana where three persons were killed.
Mr. Omoni gave the names of the deceased as Namene Kialede 33, from Luiwi, Muaka Ikara 42 and Kingsley Kponee Uegere all from Khana Local Government Area.
He however said that no arrest has been made yet but efforts were on to arrest the perpetrators.
The police spokesman further revealed that while officers and men of the police force were combing the forests in Kono Boue in search of the hoodlums, the officers ran into one Enyindah Ndu who was kidnapped at Elelenwo on the 19th of this month and was rescued.
