Anambra state governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has announced the donation of N10million to supplement the feeding of corps members deployed to the state for the 3-weeks orientation camp.
Obiano made the disclosure yesterday during the swearing in ceremony of 2200 Batch ‘B’ corps members at the Umunya Orientation Camp, Oyi local government area of the state.
The governor, represented by the head of service, Bar. Harry Udu, pledged his administration’s continued support to the scheme targeted at making life comfortable for the corps members. He said, “I hereby direct the provision of the most sumptuous meal nationwide as I shall be supplementing the feeding in the Anambra camp with the sum of N10million.
“We will continue to provide the enabling environment for the youths to maximise their potentials of self-actualisation and employment.”
He commended the NYSC management and staff for curtailing the excesses of corps members with especially with respect to embarking on unnecessary journeys outside the state
The governor, however, urged them to be patient with his administration over the completion of the Permanent Orientation Camp, assuring its readiness by August.
Earlier, the state coordinator, Kehinde Aremu, regretted that the promise of hosting the camp at the permanent site had not been achieved, but assured that the next batch would not be at the temporary site.
