70 vulnerable homes benefit from Rotary Club’s palliatives in Bayelsa

The Rotary Club of Nigeria, District 9141, has donated palliatives to vulnerable households in Yenagoa, Bayelsa, as part of its contributions to cushion the effects of COVID-19

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the presentation of the food items, which is also to kickstart the rotary activities for the year, took place on Tuesday in Yenagoa.

Rotarian Aye Dikuro, the District Governor nominee of the club, said the initiative was meant to give palliatives to 70 vulnerable households in the state to alleviate the biting effects of COVID-19.

He said the aim of the programme was to ensure that some vulnerable people, who could not get succour from other places were being taken care of in order to help more people in the society.

The Rotarian urged others to give helping hands to the people, who were suffering from the effects of COVID-19 in the state by joining hands with the club to reach out to the people.

He said: “This programme is going to take place in three different places in Yenagoa metropolis; this is just the first stage.

“The aim of this programme is to give palliatives to 70 vulnerable families in Yenagoa, 30 people have benefited today; we will do it in two other places later.

“The mandate of the club is to get vulnerable persons in our society and assist them in our own little way,” he said.

Beneficiaries, Mrs Alima Yunusa and Comfort Monday, expressed delight on the items, saying it will help to sustain their families’ need for a few days. (NAN)
