Cyril Mbah, Abuja.
Doctors at the State House Clinic in State House [Aso Villa], Abuja, battled for hours on Thursday to revive the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa.
The 41-year-old chairman had slumped while speaking at an event at the State House following which he had to be rushed to the clinic for attention.
The chairman had slumped while giving a goodwill message at the National Identity Day celebration, attended by several government officials and ambassadors of foreign countries.
Bawa was alleged to be relating to the gathering how the anti-graft agency arrested a man in Ibadan, Oyo state, with 116 stolen telephone SIM cards suspected to belong to other people.
Eye witnesses stated that while the chairman was telling the story, he suddenly stopped talking and covered his face with his right palm saying, “Please, excuse me, I can’t continue.”
The minister of communications and digital economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami, and other senior government officials at the event, rushed at Bawa and helped him to his seat.
Bawa sagged in a slumping manner when he got to his seat and was immediately rushed out to the State House Clinic by his aides.
He was still under admission at the clinic as at the time of filing this report.
