Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC, worldwide, has expressed concern over the raising cases of coronavirus in the southeast geopolitical zone in recent weeks. The group also called for prayers for quick recovery of Abia governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, who tested positive to COVID-19 and urged members of the public not to panic that he was in stable condition.
A statement released and signed to journalists in Abakaliki, the president general of the group, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and other members of his team said that a 40 days prayer and fasting was declared for the recovery of governor.
According to the group, it has mobilised about 100 religious bodies to pray for the quick recovery of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state. They, however, called on all religious bodies to fast and pray for the healing of the nation and the zone in particular
The statement reads: “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide had described as a sad development the unfortunate news of the rising index cases of coronavirus in the South East, which Governor Okezie ikpeazu of Abia state was among and the first Igbo governor to sincerely disclose his status as being positive to the virus, after series of tests.
“OYC had mobilised 100 religious groups to intercede with prayers and other traditional media of prayers for all Igbo that currently tested positive to coronavirus especially, Governor Okezie ikpeazu.
“Igbo youths have declared 40 days fasting and prayers for Governor Okezie ikpeazu, led by Igbo Christian Prayer Warriors, starting from 9th June, 2020.
“OYC is hopeful and confident that God will heal the land and save Igbo from this coronavirus pandemic and wish Governor Okezie ikpeazu and other affected Igbo quick recovery.”
