Primate Elijah Ayodele of the Inri Evangelical Spiritual Church has declared that celebrating Nigeria’s independence is nothing more than celebrating lies, deceit and failure.

Speaking to Orient Weekend in Lagos, the cleric who is so bittered concerning the situation of Nigeria said: “celebrating Nigeria is celebrating failure, backwardness and lack of achievement, those who are celebrating it are the people who kept Nigeria in this condition because they have used to Commonwealth of the nation to enrich themselves and if we are to tell ourselves the truth, Nigeria is a failed nation “.

He further said that a lot of people saw the birth of the great nation in 1960 when Nigeria got their independence from Britain and many of them envisaged that Nigeria will become a giant and rule the African continent at some point in time.

“It is pathetic that the lovely dreams and anticipations for a great nation have never happened as the Nigerian currency is one of the poorest currencies on the African continent that is ravaged by abject poverty”.

He decried the lingering ASUU strike and said “APC is the ruling party, they sold their presidential form for 100 million and realised the huge amount of money, yet, they cannot settle ASUU so that the students can go back to school”.

He lamented about the Naira which has crumbled massively compared to the American dollar, “the naira used to be stronger than the American dollar but now, it is N735 to one American dollar and we are celebrating; we are celebrating failure, total failure”, he fumed.
