Anambra Guber: Ikpeazu, Okowa, Obi others confident of PDP victory

Governors Ifeanyi Okowa, Okezie Ikpeazu and Olusola Makinde alongside other Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hierarchies have expressed confidence that the party candidate, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo will be victorious in the November 6 governorship election in Anambra state.

The assurances were given at a mega rally that attracted mammoth crowd of party faithful and supporters to the Alex Ekwueme square in Awka, the state capital on Tuesday.

The PDP’s mother of all rallies was put together to drum support for the party’s candidate and to unite the various party faithful in different wards as they prepare for the election.

Addressing the teeming supporters, various speakers at the event described Mr. Ozigbo as the best among equals, saying that he stands out to deliver the much needed quality leadership in the state.

Chairman, PDP National campaign council and Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, said the candidacy of Valentine Ozigbo would mark the end of APGA reign in Anambra state. He stated that it was only by the grace of God that the people survive the All Progressive Congress (APC) administration.

While he urged the people to vote PDP, he charged them to vote out party that have brought hardship on them. Ikpeazu gave instances that Mr. Ozigbo’ personality are found in his humility and understanding of the people, stressing that such qualities would be deployed to the unity and development of the state.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, of Delta State emphasized that PDP through their recent convention is set to take back the nation. He said the party’s takeover of Anambra state would serve as a signal for the party’s triumph in the 2023 general election.

He urged the people of the state to unite under the party umbrella in its surge to take over the country. According to him, people must understand that PDP candidate holds key to the success of the state and must unite, throw their support in his project of rebuilding the state as a governor.

Also speaking, Oyo State Governor, Olusola Makinde said the election is not about choice between good and evil but about good material and bad material.

He said that other parties had failed through lies and deceits. “As far as the election is concerned, lies will not take anybody to the governorship seat. Ozigbo’s vision is clear and with that vision, he is set to serve the people”, he added.

In the same vein, PDP vice-presidential candidate in the 2019 Presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi reassured that the PDP guber candidate would rebuild the state.

While reassuring the people good governance under Ozigbo, he regretted that the present APGA government succeeded at running the state into huge debt after his administration had left N75 billion in the government coffers prior to hand over of government in 2014.

Chairman of the PDP State Campaign Council and House of Reps Member, Sen Uche Ekwunife reassured the people that PDP is taking over to rebuild the state, reconstruct the roads and bring new wave of economic development to the state.

Addressing the party faithful, the PDP flag bearer, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo noted that he cannot afford to shy away from the responsibility of taking over from the incumbent as the rebuilding process of Anambra state must commence immediately.

The candidate said he is contesting because of several Anambra indigenes who are passing through difficulties and struggling to survive the bad governance in the state. He assured that he would do everything possible to make the state a commercial and industrial hub that everyone will be proud of.

Ozigbo, who said he stood out among his opponents in terms of character content and youthful energy, expressed optimism that he would come out victorious in the guber polls.

Earlier, the PDP Anambra State Chairman, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, urged the supporters and people of the state to vote for the party candidate to come out victorious in the November 6 election.
