The Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, NCPC, has commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State for their commitment to the affairs of God and exemplary leadership in spite of the nation’s economic, security and public health challenges.

The Executive Secretary of the commission, Rev. Dr. Yakubu Pam, made the commendation at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, when he addressed pilgrims from Enugu and Benue States who were departing for Jordan for the ongoing 2021 Easter pilgrimage.

Rev. Pam expressed delight that Governor Ugwuanyi sacrificed a lot to sponsor candidates for the pilgrimage notwithstanding the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic on the state and the nation’s economy.

The NCPC boss who also commended the facilities at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, enjoined the pilgrims from Enugu and Benue states to avoid anything that would bring disrepute to the two states and Nigeria in general.

On his part, Governor Ugwuanyi who was represented by his deputy, Hon. Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, urged the pilgrims to be of good conduct and focus squarely on the spiritual aim of the exercise and pray fervently for their various states and Nigeria, throughout their stay in the Holy Land.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary, Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Enugu State, Barr. Nestor Ezeme, also lauded Governor Ugwuanyi for the contributions to this year’s pilgrimage, saying “We are here because His Excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi made it possible; not minding what the country is passing through, he sponsored us to this spiritual journey”.

Similarly, the Benue State’s Executive Secretary, Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Dr. Mrs. Dorcas Otalo, thanked the governors for sponsoring pilgrims from their states, stating that it is a spiritual journey not jamboree.
