The Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Command, Iskilu Ayinla Makinde, has enjoined Kwarans to shun all actions or inaction that could lead to or cause flood disaster in the state.
Makinde dropped the warning on Tuesday while declaring open a training organised by the crisis management department of the Corps for the local government desk officers across the state held at Ade Abolurin Hall, State Command.
“As we are witnessing incessant rainfall nowadays, l will like to use this occasion to appeal to the residents of the Kwara state especially those living in the flood prone and riverine areas to avoid any action or inaction that can lead to flood disaster in the state,” the commandant said.
He enjoined the desk officers who came from all the local government headquarters across the state to sensitise and enlighten people on the need to avoid any act that can trigger flood disaster in their areas.
“I appeal to all the selected desk officers who are present here today to take the message to the people in their respective divisional headquarters and out posts and ensure a flood and crisis free raining season.”
